Level 2 Handbuilding Improvers

Handbuilding with Clay is a wonderful, relaxing and rewarding experience!

Design as a follow on from our Beginners Handbuilding course, Sandy will guide you through combining the main Handbuilding techniques of Slabbing, Pinching and Coiling, to make more complex shapes.

Over the six weeks you will learn how to make a number of different objects and how to combine different methods and  processes used in Handbuilding with both Earthenware and Stoneware clays, and to decorate your pots using a variety of more advanced decorative processes, including surface texture, using coloured slip and glazing.

Sandy will introduce each weeks session and give a demonstration of what you will be covering. The rest of the session you will be making your clay objects. Sandy will guide you and give feedback on your work informally during the session.

Prices for courses covers all tuition and use of facilities.

The cost of finished work depends on the type of clay used, but the price includes the clay, bisque and glaze firings, and the use of our lovely house glazes and oxides. For example, our standard stoneware is charged at £9 per kilo of fired weight.
