ABOUT

At Nottingham Ceramic School we offer a friendly and supportive creative space where everyone interested in learning to make with clay is welcome. We keep class sizes small so you to get time with the tutors, while still being able to have an enjoyable sociable experience.

Our Throwing and Hand building courses teach the techniques and methods to make a range of different clay pieces and are pitched at different levels from beginners, improvers to aspiring makers. Our focus is to offer a breadth of classes that teach a good grounding in the basics, but also something a bit more challenging, for those wanting to stretch their existing skills.

These sit alongside Studio Access sessions for confident makers, who want to use a well equipped ceramic studio to learn the craft of ceramics by having time on the wheel or make at their own pace.

Throughout the year our programme of Masterclasses by Professional makers, will give a change to learn and be inspired by leading ceramic artists who will be sharing their specialised skills and talk about their work.

Nottingham ceramic school is run by Kit Anderson, the woman behind FOTO CERAMICA, who has taught ceramics for over 25 years, drawing on her experience as a professional maker, and her time running Ceramic departments for Health and FE colleges.

She is joined by a small team of experienced tutors who are all makers in there own right and bring a wealth of expertise and experience to support you at each step on the ceramic making journey.

We are proud to have the school in Sherwood, Nottingham, which has a lively Craft and Arts scene and so gives our creative community the ongoing opportunities to be part of Sherwood Arts week, Notts Open studios and other community arts events.
